Whether you’re a competitive athlete, regular gym-goer, or simply dealing with muscular tension, our sports massage therapy is designed to help you reduce pain, improve mobility, decrease muscular tension and support your performance and recovery.

What is Sports Massage?

Sports massage is a targeted, evidence-based manual therapy that focuses on muscles and soft tissues used during physical activity. It combines deep tissue techniques, stretching, muscle energy techniques and movement-based therapy to:

  • Reduce muscle tightness and stiffness
  • Improve flexibility and range of motion
  • Enhance recovery between training sessions
  • Support injury prevention
  • Relieve aches and muscular discomfort

Unlike a general relaxation massage, sports massage is tailored specifically to your activity levels, training demands, and goals.

Who is suitable for sports massage?

Sports massage is suitable for:

  • Runners, cyclists, and endurance athletes
  • People recovering from an injury
  • Gym members
  • Team sport athletes
  • Individuals training for events
  • Office workers with posture-related tension
  • Anyone experiencing muscular tightness or overuse symptoms

You don’t need to be an elite athlete to benefit.

What should you wear?

For a sports massage, the key is comfort. The massage will be performed on bare skin in the area where treatment is needed. Here’s what to wear:

  • Comfortable, stretchy gym clothes
  • Avoid tight clothing

You will always be given privacy to get changed and place yourself onto the the massage bed face down before the treatment begins.

Disclaimer

If you are coming in to see us due to muscular or joint pain, manual therapy is a short-term relief intervention and should be used alongside a rehabilitation plan. Manual therapy treats symptoms, but not the cause of your issue. A combination of exercise therapy and manual therapy can be an incredibly useful way to help you manage pain, improve range of movement, and recover from injury or aches and pains.
